Carbon Footprint Nursery

We have been awarded a £900k Design & Build contract for the construction of a sustainable nursery school for Milnbank Housing Association in Glasgow’s east end. Concrete slab work has started in advance of the main building work early September.

This project was won by competitive D&B tender with a 40/60 quality/cost split and we were advised that all submissions were of a ‘very high’ standard, so we are doubly pleased to have won through against stiff opposition. Our design team includes Coltart Earley Architects who gave us wholehearted support during the bid process, as did Arthur McKay (M&E) and Armours Kilmarnock (QS services).

PMCL Encourages Youth Development

This summer we have taken on three young people to gain experience in the construction industry:

Grieg Gardiner who is sixteen years old and from Kilmarnock is shadowing Colin McKinlay, our Site Manager at the new Co-operative Food store at Darvel prior to returning to his studies as a pupil at Grange Academy, Kilmarnock after the school holidays. He is gaining his first insight into how a building site operates and is thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Ryan Murray and Craig Pirie have just completed their first year at Glasgow Caledonian University where both are studying for a BSc in Quantity Surveying. They are actually employed by us so their experience is as real employees. Having spent a lot of time on site they have gained valuable experience of site operations and have contributed to our business by carrying out various tasks including site measures, take offs and cost calculations.
