Associated British Foods
This enabling works project at the former Littlewoods store, High Street, Paisley for client and landlord Associated British Foods PLC.
Following an asbestos removal exercise, the building was prepared as a shell, to be made ready for incoming tenants and entailed removal and replacement of the roof coverings (2,500 m2) , removal of 2 large escalators and 2 stairwells and strip out of all redundant services, partitions and fixtures.
New work included structural steel and load bearing concrete floors. The unit is now sub-divided into three by the construction of internal walls. Service connections were updated ready for the new tenant.
Particular challenges were the size of the of the floor area which is 8,000 m2 over three floors and the co-ordination of the demolition works to ensure noise and dust were minimised for neighbouring businesses.
