Project Profile - Shellfish Processing Warehouse
SCOTTISH FISHERMEN’S ORGANISATION
HORNAL ROAD BOTHWELL INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, UDDINGSTON

Industrial construction in Glasgow, Scotland by Project Management & Construction Ltd

The works comprise the construction of a new 14,000 ft2 seafood processing unit. This single storey, steel framed building with Kingspan KS1000 roof and wall cladding. The scope includes a 300 pallet refrigeration unit, a 1500m2 service yard, secure overnight parking and 2 No. loading bays. Internally there is improved office accommodation and staff facilities as well an increase in storage provision.

The design was developed in such a way as to allow the retention of circa 8,000m3 of soil to be retained on site, the material being used to form landscaped bunds to the rear of the site that also act as natural screens between the new unit and surrounding residential housing.

A heat recovery system has been included within the design which will harness heat generated by the new refrigeration plant, to provide hot water for cleaning and heating. As a result of this there is no requirement for a new gas supply.
